If you are in Alberta, Canada and you want to visit something completely different you should stop by the West Edmonton Mall.  The mall spans 48 city blocks in the west end of the City of Edmonton, has over 800 shops and services and over 100 dining establishments.  This doesn’t include the eight attractions that are also inside.  For a mall this size, there is no wonder why it can accommodate more than 20,000 vehicles in the world’s largest parking lot.

The West Edmonton Mall is anchored by The Bay store and Sears.  It also has art, bridal, furniture, optical, shoe store, etc. within the mall.  Some of those stores include Ethos, Northern Images Gallery, The Bombay Company, LensCrafters, and Aerosoles.  If you get hungry, you can stop at one of the full-service restaurants like The Old Spaghetti Factory or Tony Romas.  If you are looking for something else, try the food court with an A & W, China Court, Extreme Pita, KFC, Tokyo Express Sushi to name a few.

But this West Edmonton Mall is about more than the stores and restaurants.  It is about the attractions.  How many malls can claim they have an Imax, a water park, an amusement park, a cavern, a casino and a radio station?  The West Edmonton Mall can.  After stopping at World Waterpark and having a go at the indoor bungee jump you can head over to Deep Sea Adventure, which is the world’s largest indoor lake, and see an exact replica of the Santa Maria, one of Christopher Columbus’ ships.  There is also KidTropolis, which is a massive 50,000 square foot kid-friendly city that allows kids the opportunity to role play in a hospital, newsroom, fire station and more.  It is a great place to leave your kids while you go shopping.

If you are looking for something a little more for the adults at the West Edmonton Mall , there is always Rick Bronson’s The Comic Strip, Rum Jungle, or Palace Casino.  If you enjoy a “themed” night out, you can hit Bourbon Street, Europa Boulevard or Chinatown.  There are several ways to enjoy the nightlife here.

The West Edmonton Mall has been a tourist attraction since it opened its doors to the pubic in 1981.  It has been expanded three times since then and continues to grow.  This mall has a place to shop, play and stay.  It holds the hours of 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday to Saturday and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.  Some of the attractions have different hours, but you can visit the mall’s website, www.westedmall.com, for specific information.  If you enjoy a mall with it all, take time to visit the West Edmonton Mall, one of western Canada’s major tourist attractions.
