Located on West
95th street at Quivira Road, near I-35 and
I-435, Oak Park Mall is one of the top regional malls in the Kansas
City area. Oak Park
Mall was built in 1974, expanded in 1998 and renovated in 2001. It was recently purchased
by CBL for $516.9 million and boasts 190 specialty stores and services
including five anchor stores. Of
the five anchors, two of them are Dillard’s stores, which are Dillard’s
North and Dillard’s South. Rounding
out the rest of the anchors in Oak Park are Nordstrom, JC Penney, and
The Jones Store. With 1.5
million square feet of retail space and shop in all price ranges, other
major retailers at the Oak Park Mall include
Abercrombie & Fitch, Ann Taylor, The Disney Store, Aveda
Aesthetique, Yankee Candle Co., and Zales Jewelers.
The food court, located near The Jones Store, offers
14 vendors including Chicken Little’s Griddle, Pretzel Time &
Freshens Yogurt, Sonic and Teriyaki Express.
Other restaurants at the Oak Park Mall include the
Nordstrom Café and Rainforest Café.
If you are looking for something sweet, Godiva
Chocolatier, Pretzel Time/TCBY, and Mrs. Fields Cookies will have
treats to satisfy your craving. After eating at
the Oak
Park Mall, you can
entertain yourself or your family at the Build-A-Bear Workshop,
GameStop, or at the Train/Carousel/Soft Play Area.
But there aren’t just amenities within the mall. Also surrounding the mall
is Oak Park Plaza, which included an AMC Theater, a Jiffy Lube, a Ruby
Tuesday and the Shawnee Mission Urgent Care.
The AMC Theater is a six screen theatre. Other malls in
the area, such as the Great Mall of the Great Plains, can no longer
compare with Oak Park Mall. It
has ample parking and is constantly improving its stores. One new store in the area
is Sephora, which will open in Spring 2006.
Stroller and wheelchair rentals are available at
Customer Service located on the lower level outside of The Disney Store. With Kohl's, Neiman Marcus, Sears, and Nordstrom. |
