On 12th February 1970, in Charlotte on about one million square feet South Park Mall was opened. The mall is about five miles south of uptown, at the corner of Sharon and Fairview Roads. At that time, this area was taken as outskirts of charlotte. The two families Ivey and Belk developed this only with three department stores.  They jointly owned and operated the mall by own.

The South Park Mall’s infrastructure is originally inspired from Dallas North park center.  The underground parking facility marks. South Park Mall has a stiff modernization which joined this store after Belk and Ivey’s stores. The two- story Eastland mall, which is about 6 miles northeast give a stiff competition to South Park Mall. This stores anchor with Sears, Belk and Ivey’s sores, JC penny and an ice-skating rink and many more.

Due to this, South Park Mall renovates with buildings and changes its interiors and upgrade its mall. About 16 years later, South Park Mall brings Thalhimer`s and lord and Taylor does not proved as mark able addition in comparison to Thalhimer`s and food court.  In 1990 Dillard’s changed thrill name to Ivey’s department stores. This is also did by Thalhimer`s who changed thrill name Now, Belk, Ivey’s, Herds and Sears add beauty of this store. After change the names of various stores in 1990, South Park Mall standby such as wool this and Morison’s cafeteria left.

Due to the strong competition given by Carolina Place Mall, which is located in south of Pineville, the mew Philips place cinemas opened. The Moorcroft Shopping Center, which is located across Sharon Road, joined by Harris Teeter. In 1990, the marketable expansion was declared when sakes Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom joined the mall.  South Park Mall was sold to Simon property group when the Belk and Ivey families sold thrill interest in the property to Rodamco. In 2004, Saks pulled out but Nordstrom gave warm welcome. By 2006, the South Park Mall provides three new Deck’s sporting games at its former location of sears, which is closed in 2003 for its underperformance. It also gives room to restaurants. The cheesecake factory, Morton’s Steak House and McCornick Schmick’s for this mall spreads its roots over 1.4 million square feet with 7,600 parking spaces. South Park Mall is setting a fashionable standard due to its unique blend of style and comfort South Park Mall also organized Charlotte symphony orchestra stages in its symphony park for its ‘ pops in the park” concerts series which is free for all visitors. South Park Mall accommodates the top name branded stores from Bombay Company to Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Tiffany’s. Indeed, South Park Mall has panache.
